What Government Functions Are Available In The Government Center Complex?
Voter Registration, Payment of local taxes, (Personal Property, Real Estate, Dog Tags, Meals Tax, etc), Business Licenses, Building Permits, Zoning & Engineering, Pupil Services (Schools), Employment, Addressing, Service Authority (Water/Sewer/Landfill), Parks & Recreation. Out-buildings include Sheriff’s Office/Magistrate, Social Services and Agriculture Extension.

What Form Of Government Does Augusta County Have?
Augusta County has a 7 member elected Board of Supervisors on 4 year terms. They meet each month at the Augusta County Government Center in Verona, VA. The schedule for the public meetings and itinerary is under the Board of Supervisors calendar in this website.

What Are The Government Center Hours Of Operation?
The Augusta County Government Center is open 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. The holiday schedule is posted on the county calendar in this website. Other unscheduled closings could be for inclement weather. These will be on local radio, TV broadcasts or websites and will also be posted on this website should that occur.

Is Staunton And Waynesboro Part Of Augusta County?
While Staunton and Waynesboro are within the Augusta County borders, they are not part of Augusta County government. Staunton and Waynesboro are cities under state code and have their own elected city councils and governing body. While the 3 localities have many joint ventures, such as the landfill, their taxes and regulations are separate from the each other and can not be paid or filed except at their locations.

What Is 911 Addressing And How Does It Work?
911 addressing was started in 1995 as a way to standardize the addressing in accordance with U.S. Postal Service guidelines. Using GIS software, all the roads and streets have been named and each dwelling given an address. Addressing continues with each new building permit. Augusta County has a public wireless network in the Government Center. It is free of charge for the public or vendors to use. The Fishersville and Churchville library branches also have free public wireless available.

Does Augusta County Accept Bank Cards On-Line?
Some departments accept credit cards in person. Service Authority will accept credit card payments or electronic check drafting. Presently Parks & Recreation and the Treasurer’s Office are getting ready to deploy on-line credit card payments. Other departments and areas will soon follow.
