BLS and ALS Providers

Augusta County Fire-Rescue is seeking qualified applicants to fill part-time BLS and ALS EMS vacancies. These positions are hourly with starting rate of $22.70 to $25.06 per hour based on certification and experience.

Successful applicants will create a pool of personnel to fill shift vacancies on an “as-needed” basis. These positions will be assigned to work various 12-hour and 24-hour shifts primarily based out of Rescue 16 (Craigsville), Rescue 4 (Churchville), Rescue 6 (Stuarts Draft), Rescue 26 (Weyers Cave) and Rescue 11 (Fishersville)

These positions will be required to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays while preparing for and responding to emergency calls from the public.

PREREQUISITIES:
Minimum of 18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Valid Driver’s License
Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC 2)
Certified as an Virginia EMT, Advanced EMT or Paramedic
Hazardous Materials Awareness
NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800
Acceptable VA DMV Driving Record

Experience with 911 ambulance transport is required.

Augusta County Fire-Rescue is a great place to be because we are a participating  agency with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management’s (VDEM) Region 2 Technical Rescue Team and Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team.

All ACFR personnel are afforded training and career development training opportunities to participate with these regional response teams and pursue Advanced Level EMS certifications.

E111 First RunAugusta County Fire-Rescue is a combination system responding from 17 stations protecting Virginia’s second largest county. We have an authorized level of 141 FTE’s, plus part-time personnel. Career personnel staff 14 of the 17 stations.

For firefighter/EMS Positions:  We offer both 24-hour and Monday to Friday day shift assignments. ACFR team members typically staff engine and BLS/ALS units throughout our combination system. Additionally, two central county stations staff truck/ladder company, HAZMAT, and heavy squad company.

Augusta County Fire-Rescue is continually taking applications for the jobs listed above.  If there are no openings at the time you submit an application, then your application will be held active for six months and your name is added to our list of applicants once a job opening exist.

Regional Fire Fighter Testing

Augusta County, Rockingham County, and the Cities of Harrisonburg, Staunton and Waynesboro conduct joint Firefighter testing. For more information call the Human Resources Department at 540 245-5617. Testing consists of a two hour written test and a physical ability test. Individuals completing both the written and physical ability test will be provided certificates indicating their scores. These certificates must be used to apply for future positions with the above listed localities. NOTE: Certificates are only valid for 1 year.
