The County of Augusta recognizes the importance of protecting the organization, taxpayers, employees and assets against financial risks, operational breaches and unethical activities. The fraud policy prohibits fraud or misuse of the County’s assets and sets forth specific guidelines and responsibilities, including appropriate actions, that must be followed for the investigation of fraud and other similar irregularities.

Any person who has a reasonable basis for believing fraudulent or corrupt acts have occurred has a responsibility to report the suspected act immediately. If you have information related to suspected fraud regarding the County of Augusta, please report it as noted in the fraud policy. Please be as specific as possible when describing the circumstances.

All investigations will be conducted in confidence insofar as reasonably possible. The names or names of those communicating information about a fraudulent act or the name or names of those suspected of a fraudulent act will only be revealed when required by law in conjunction with the investigation or legal action.

The County Administrator’s office, Sheriff’s office and Commonwealth's Attorney will be notified of your report.
