Project History
Augusta County has been studying the needs of its court systems for more than a decade. Current space needs, function and security are not being met at the Circuit Court, District Court, Juvenile & Domestic Relations court, or related court functions such as Commonwealth Attorney, Court Services Unit, or clerks offices.

Augusta County Works toward Courthouse Move to Verona
The Board of Supervisors will consider a proposed arrangement with the City of Staunton which ensures the city’s support of suggested General Assembly legislation authorizing the county to build a court facility in Verona.

Courthouse Application Submitted to Historic Preservation Commission
Augusta County has submitted an application for a certificate of appropriateness to the City of Staunton’s Historic Preservation Commission for the proposed downtown courthouse project.
