Augusta County is fortunate to receive regional services and resources that provide assistance and support to citizens. Needs can range from financial hardship to in-home personal care services and after-school and summer activities.
Shenandoah Valley Social Services (SVSS) serves as our local Department of Social Services and provides human services assistance to citizens experiencing financial hardship, neglect and abuse in Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County.
To report child abuse and neglect:
During business hours, contact the SVSS office at 540.245.5800 and choose option 6 to be directed to a Child Protective Services (CPS) intake worker.
After business hours, please call the following hotline, which is open 24 hours a day:

Mandated Reporters can use the online portal to make a CPS report anytime.
